Business Development Manager – Orange, CA

Vert Energy Group is seeking a highly ambitious and outgoing Business Development Manager.  You can earn $50,000 if you’re average, $80,000 if you’re good, and $150,000+ if you’re a top performer.  Salary Base + Commission.

This position is in the energy efficiency services industry, and we work commercial building owners such as offices, hotels, and retail centers.  Sales experience in these fields is a plus, but not required if you have a track record of success.  You must be great at opening doors and getting appointments from a cold start.  You must also be highly self-motivated, a terrific presenter and communicator, and an out-of-the-box thinker.

If you aren’t comfortable cold calling c-level executives of major companies, presenting to large groups of people, or challenging the status quo, than this position isn’t for you.  If you prefer to be a pioneer rather than a follower, and if you enjoy developing and implementing innovative business strategies, then we want to talk to you. Expand

Job Responsibilities:

As the Business Development Manager, you will responsible for implementing sales and marketing strategies which align with our company’s vision of “Changing the way people think about managing their buildings.”  You will identify the top prospects within our target market and meet with their executives to first understand their goals, and then assess their needs and opportunities.  You will educate them on the energy efficiency and building modernization programs we have developed, and then create a plan which aligns with their business goals.

You will have the opportunity to develop and implement your own programs, so long as they align with our company’s vision and mission.  You can also hire other team members to further your sales and marketing efforts.   Day to day responsibilities will include managing the entire sales cycle, from cold calling to negotiating, and closing deals with new and existing clients.

Tasks will include:

  • Actively developing energy efficiency projects within our target market.
  • Creating business sales plans and forecasts with well-defined objectives, goals and timelines.
  • Developing marketing and sales materials.
  • Participating and speaking in selected seminars, conferences, and industry trade groups to meet new customers.
  • Continuous education on topics relevant to our industry and target market.
  • Occasional travel to Northern California and other states to meet with new and existing clients.

Desired Experience:

Vert Energy Group hires driven, self-motivated, and innovative professionals, not just backgrounds.  While the following experiences are good indicators of your potential, it is not a requirement.

  • 5 years of experience in selling energy efficiency services or other complex business to business sales.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, or other related disciplines.

Energy Efficiency Field Analyst – San Francisco, CA

Vert Energy Group is hiring an Energy Efficiency Field Analyst(s) in San Francisco County to support our engineering staff with conducting ASHRAE Energy Audits.  Initially, this position will consist of helping our team conduct building inspections to collect data on HVAC, lighting, and control systems.  Experience with HVAC systems is desired.   Expand

Depending on experience, other responsibilities may include:

  • Performing energy calculations and analysis major mechanical systems based on current industries standards such as ASHRAE and LEED;
  • Generating narrative explanation of results of energy analysis for inclusion in client reporting and final reports;
  • Maintaining relations with existing clients on assigned projects;
  • Assisting client in troubleshooting system operational issues that impact energy efficiency;
  • Developing work scopes, bidding and managing the implementation of energy efficiency projects; and
  • Installing measurement equipment and analyzing measured data, including lighting loggers, power recorders, and other data acquisitions systems.

Associate Energy Efficiency Engineer – Los Angeles, CA

Vert Energy Group is seeking an experienced Associate Energy Efficiency Engineer in Los Angeles County to support our engineering staff conduct ASHRAE Energy Audits.  This individual will assist in the development and implementation of energy management programs for various building types.  Candidates should possess strong technical capabilities including a strong proficiency in mechanical, electrical, and control systems.  Expand

Tasks may include

  • Conducting a energy efficiency audits and assist with report writing
  • Managing a high volume of projects at time and staying on schedule
  • Performing energy calculations and analysis major mechanical systems based on current industries standards such as ASHRAE and LEED
  • Generating narrative explanation of results of energy analysis for inclusion in client reporting and final reports
  • Providing weekly task lists to engineering manager for inclusion in weekly work plan.
  • Maintaining relations with existing clients on assigned projects
  • Assisting client in troubleshooting system operational issues that impact energy efficiency
  • Developing work scopes, bidding and managing the implementation of energy conservation projects
  • Lead client performance reporting meetings while being responsible for developing the
  • Designing energy analyses using advanced spreadsheets and building simulation software
  • Verifying installation, operations, and performance characteristics of energy-efficient equipment
  • Installing measurement equipment and analyzing measured data, including lighting loggers, power recorders, and other data acquisitions systems
  • Leading teams to collectively complete tasks on time and on budget

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • At least 4 years experience working with mechanical equipment and systems such as absorbers, chillers, boilers, air ventilation balancing systems and other optimization techniques
  • Experience with energy modeling programs such as Portfolio Manager, Trane Trace, Carrier HAP,  Loadsoft, Degree-day modeling analysis
  • Familiarity with code and standards ex. ASHRAE 90.1-2007, 62.1-2010 etc.
  • EIT or CEM certification preferred
  • LEED AP  preferred
  • Hands-on-experience of HVAC and/or electrical systems

Sales and Marketing Internship

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic intern to join our team. We are willing to give as much responsibility as you can take on; which can ultimately lead to a full-time position upon graduation.  Depending on performance, this intern will be hired on full-time managing either a sales or marketing team that he/she will build during the internship.  Expand
